Surfing through the vast expanses of the Internet suddenly stumbled across very interesting question of an active art gallery director: what could attract visitors to some private gallery in Moscow? He did not ask about the gallery, where he was a head, but of some private one which he was asked to run by the owners in the nearest future.
Not an easy question to be answered, because now in the capital of Russia there is a significant number of private galleries, some of them with very non-artistic names, for example, Winery, Garage, while others, personal, by the names and on behalf of the famous artists - Glazunov, Tsereteli, Shilov. But, that's bad luck, an attempt to determine how many of such galleries now in Moscow, didn’t provide a result. At the same time it turned out that even LiveInternet do not show statistics of the virtual galleries in RuNet, but it is not obliged..
Nevertheless all of us can agree that the more places exist for the dissemination of true artistic creations - the better. And undoubtedly, in any case it’s necessary to determine what the most fans are now interested in contemporary art. From the whole set of preferences we have to choose the most vivid parts attracting their attention. Then you can build a vision for the future gallery, which will form the basis from several particular items, ranging from the appearance to the accompanying service and may be even industries.
It turbed out that there were not so many but some versatile respondents for this answer: the head of the department, a poet, a freelance artist, a composer, an art Coucher and a brand manager. All of them came to the conclusion that the only exposition is too weak attempt to draw the audience. Therefore it was proposed to make several additional formats - a school of painting, may be a design bureau, a baguette boutique and especially a creative club with a restaurant and even a wine shop. It would be nice to issue some discount card, but the most basic - to convey information about holding solo exhibitions in a proper way, including dates when the artist will come personally. The exhibitions must be dynamic and organized as often as possible.
Good idea, undoubtedly, to use also an arcenal of modern technology: for example, some vuisual kinetic paintings on displays that are created on the spot, accompanied by relevant music.
The auhors of these ideas didn’t mention Internet media, but who now doesn’t place their own websites, where with the help of some small favicons the galleries can be connected with the social networks. Anybody can invite newborn and unknown artists, offering to vote for their creations, as the Saatchi online does, and to form in such a way their future expositions and collections.
Unfortunately, gallery owners and dealers hide the secrets of their knowledge which were not shared. But may be the person already working as the gallery director, is informed in a due course about the opinions of the experts related to contemporary art, and even knows the names of famous collectors to be familiar to their secret passions. Therefore, if ...
a team of real enthusiasts will be properly recruited,
the opinions of the various branches professionals from the designer to the advertiser (do not forget about the artists themselves!) will be taken into consideration,
one or two non-trivial tricks will be applied to draw attention to the ptivate gallery,
- then you can begin to create its name.
